These systems include automatic braking to help drivers maintain a safe distance between vehicles.
One new technology for trucks adds additional braking power when a forward collision is imminent. There is also a series of alerts when a stopped or stalled vehicle is in a truck’s lane. These audible warnings sound up to three seconds prior to the impact whether the truck driver has the speed control engaged or not. This type of system like would always be in operation when the truck is traveling over 10mph, with no means to turn the system off manually.
