Nebraska Rig Insurance: NSP Focuses on Drunk Driving

Nebraska Rig Insurance: NSP Focuses on Drunk Driving

Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) used social media to shame a commercial driver for drunk driving in July, 2019. CDL driver Michael Jackson is out of Ontario, Canada. He was busted on I-80 near Waverly, NE. NSP says I-80 is one of the nation’s busiest highways. The arresting officer administered a breathalyzer and determined Jackson’s blood alcohol content (BAC) to be an astounding 0.317! The breathalyzer image went viral via Facebook because it’s eight times the legal limit for a CDL driver in Nebraska, per CDL Life Magazine.

Nebraska rig insurance provider J.E.B Insurance wants CDL drivers to be safe and drive sober! We also want you to understand the implications drunk driving will have on your commercial trucking license and your rig insurance. NSP is cracking down on drunk driving and we would like to remind drivers of these sobering facts provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)

Nebraska Drunk Driving Facts

  • From 2003 to 2012, a 9 year period, 682 people were killed in auto crashes involving a drunk driver.
  • Most casualties were young men, aged 21-34.

Your rig insurance agents at JEB Insurance want you to understand the effects a DUI will have on your CDL, your career and your insurance premiums.

Effects of a DUI on Your CDL

  • Your CDL can be revoked (taken away forever) or suspended (taken away for a period of time, like 90 days) for a DUI conviction.
  • You will need to hire a lawyer, it will be expensive.
  • You will pay enormous fines.
  • YOUR AUTO INSURANCE AND COMMERCIAL TRUCK INSURANCE PREMIUMS WILL SKYROCKET!
  • You’ll probably lose your commercial driving job, since you won’t be able to work for a period of time and you will be too expensive to insure. You might also get a bad reputation in the industry.
