More Tips to Stay Awake On Long Drives

There are many truckers who spend days or even weeks on the road, without a chance to go home. This can be exhausting because they don’t get to sleep in their own bed. Even if they do, the long drives can really get tiring and monotonous.

Here are some more tips to help you stay awake on long drives.

Get out and move when you are feeling tired. To beat your exhaustion, stop at a rest stop and get out of your truck. Even if you just walk around your truck a few times to get your body moving, it can really help to get your blood flowing and wake you up!

Listen to the radio. Music can often help to keep you awake, especially if you are able to crank it up when you are really tired. If that doesn’t work, you may want to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and other things that won’t just become background noise if you don’t pay attention.

If you can, you might want to bring someone along. Many truckers bring their spouses along during long trips so that they can have someone to keep them company during the long haul. It also helps to keep you awake.

If you can’t, call someone and talk to them over speakerphone. Many states have put laws in place so that you can’t use your phone while you are driving. However, you can put them on speakerphone so that you have someone to talk to during periods when you are struggling to stay awake.

One of the best ways to wake up when you are feeling tired is to get out of the truck. Even if you only walk around the truck once or twice, it should help to get your blood pumping and wake you up! Other truckers prefer to bring someone along on long drives. If you can’t, don’t hesitate to call someone to help you stay awake.
