Increase in Freight opportunities at Savannah Port

On August 13, 2014, the Georgia Ports Authority reported an all-time high in container trade at the Savannah, Georgia port. In total, the port moved 293,889 twenty-foot equivalent container units in July 2014. This is a 19.2 percent increase over July 2013. In addition, the Savannah GPA moved 2.52 million tons of cargo in July, up 12.8 percent or 287,600 tons compared to the same month a year ago, and 61,860 units of autos and heavy machinery, up 8.5 percent or 4,870 compared to the same period last year.

There is also good news coming out of the Brunswick Port. As reported by Georgia Public Broadcast News last October, the resurgence of the U. S. auto industry activity has ranked the Port of Brunswick as the nation’s top auto importer ahead of New York.

With all this freight entering the Georgia Ports, the time is right for becoming a Georgia owner operator.
