Florida Fleet Truck Insurance: On Hurricanes & Freight

Florida Fleet Truck Insurance: On Hurricanes & Freight

Florida fleet managers and big rig owners are no strangers to hurricanes and their effects on the freight industry. Every year Florida faces hurricane risk, but only 18 hurricanes have actually made landfall in the last 170 years or so, and fewer than half of those have actually hit Florida.

Here at JEB Insurance Services we serve Florida’s independent owner operators and fleet managers, so we understand how hurricane evacuations, flooded roads, wind risks and traffic can impact your work day and the loads you move. And while we aren’t investment specialists or retirement planners by any means, we would like you to know there can be a silver lining to those stormy days… and we’re talking about investments.

Freight Company Stocks Drop During Hurricanes

It’s bad news for freight companies. But it could be good news for you! Hurricane season could be an ideal time for you to consider investing in freight companies. Again, as big rig insurance specialists we are licensed to talk about insurance issues, we wouldn’t give you investment advice. But we can point out that historically the freight industry takes a hit during hurricanes.

It’s Something To Think About

So the next time your load is stuck sitting out on the ocean, or you’re pulling over for your 10 hour break early because of evacuation traffic, or 95 is closed so you’re loaded but killing time (and losing money) in a truck stop, maybe you should consider talking to a real financial adviser about investing in the freight industry. Could it be the silver lining to those storm clouds?

The JEB Insurance blog is meant to be a resource for commercial drivers, tow truck drivers and fleet managers to keep a finger on the pulse of the industry. We want to provide you with thoughtful articles you can read in your berth or while you reset. It’s just entertainment.

But think about this: in a roundabout way, you could end up being your boss’s boss if you owned enough of the company. Now that’s an entertaining idea!

As always, don’t hesitate to contact us if you need a quote for Florida rig insurance, cargo insurance or fleet insurance. That’s what we’re here for. We insure trucks in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Iowa & Nebraska.
