Fleet Truck Insurance: Why The Lowest Price Isn’t Always the Best

If you own a fleet of trucks, you are going to have plenty of expenses. First, you actually have to buy the vehicles. Then, you have to worry about fuel and maintenance, which can be quite costly. However, you can’t forget about the insurance. This can be the biggest expense that you may have with your fleet.

That being said, many people shop around until they get the best rate for their insurance. However, the lowest price is not always the best. Here are some reasons why.

Often policies that cost less actually cover less. The cheaper that your policy is, the less it will probably cover. You may end up just having liability insurance (which only covers the other vehicle if you are in an accident).

Even if you do have more coverage, there is a good chance that it won’t cover quite as much as you would like. You may end up paying for most of the repairs out of your own pocket.

You may also have a higher deductible. In order to save you some money, many policies have a plan with a high deductible. This means that, they may cover some things, but you have to pay a large amount of money out of pocket. You may have to pay several thousand dollars before your coverage begins.

If you go with a lesser known company due to the cost, they may not be as dependable. They may charge less because they don’t have the reputation of some of their competition. Though they should do everything that they can to pay claims quickly, they might not be as reliable as other companies.

Though you may want to save money with your insurance, that is not always best. You may end up paying more out of pocket when you need your insurance the most. You may also end up going with a lesser known company who may not pay you right away.
