It’s Almost Brake Safety Week: Are You Ready For Sept. 15th-21st

J.E.B. Insurance Services, LLC wants to remind our Commercial or Owner Operator truck insurance policyholders and commercial truckers all over the globe that Brake Safety Week is going to take place during the week of September 15th-September 21st. During this week, the enforcement officials who have partnered with CVSA will perform various inspections on commercial trucks all across North America.

If a driver is determined to be operating a commercial truck that has any violations, that truck will not be allowed to be operated until the violations have been addressed and corrected. Thousands of inspections are performed yearly, sometimes to the surprise of the drivers who are on the road. Each year, there are different types of roadside safety inspections that are given.

What type of inspections will be performed this year? This year, the main focus will be on truck brake hoses and tubing. We certainly understand how important a brake system is for any type of motor vehicle, but this year there will be a greater focus on the brake hoses to remind drivers how important these components are to the safety of a vehicle.

In years past, the braking system has been a common violation during the safety inspection week. Brake hoses and brake tubing need to be working properly in order to ensure the driver will be able to safely slow the truck or come to a sahttps://www.cvsa.org/news/2019-brake-safety-week/fe stop. If there is even a slight problem with the brake hoses and tubing, it can negatively impact the truck’s entire braking system. A braking system that does not operate properly can result in unfortunate consequences for the driver and other drivers on the road.

If there is any indication that a commercial vehicle that there is an issue with the brake system, the driver will fail the inspection. Drivers who pass the inspection will be eligible to receive a decal as proof that the safety inspection was passed. Commercial trucks that do not have the proper braking system should not be on the road until the problem has been addressed, and the safety inspection will ensure that these vehicles are not on the road until the vehicle can pass the inspection.
